Ryan McMillian - Elite-MMA Instructor
What is your name and age?
Ryan McMillian 40 yrs old
When did you join Elite MMA?
I joined in December 2011
Why did you decide to start taking martial arts?
I wanted to do something different and wanted to stay in good shape as I was getting older. Also wanted to feed my competitive nature.
In the past what had caused you not to take martial arts?
I started doing martial arts when I was younger. I had done Karate and Tae Kwon do but nothing too serious. I didn’t do it later in life because I thought I was too old to start and wasn’t sure what to expect
Is this your first time taking martial arts and what classes do you take?
If you had any concerns about joining Elite MMA, what helped you with your decision?
The overall feel of the gym is very welcoming and you can tell right off the bat that these people are here for each other and it’s all about the team/family making each other better as a unit. The douche bag mentality is pretty much nonexistent in our school. That makes you feel very safe and leaves you wanting to come back every day.
Since you have been part of Elite, please share what you have been able to accomplish?
WOW!!! Where do I start??? I have got in the best shape of my life. I have gained all the confidence in the world that I can protect myself and my family. I have become a better friend, husband, training partner because of the things I have learned.
I have competed in some tournaments and won medals. And most of all made life long friends with similar goals and values.
Anything else you want to share with someone who is looking to get involved with martial arts or looking to change their current lifestyle?
It’s never too late to get started being the best version of you that you can be. If you’re on the fence about it just do it. I promise you will thank yourself for it later when you see yourself doing things you never thought possible. Elite changed my life in so many positive ways.
