Number of years of training martial arts: I took Vo Vi Nam for a short time from 1991-1992. Started training in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in June of 2008.

When did you start teaching at Elite MMA? About 2 months ago, I started a conditioning program for our mma fighters.

What is a memorable moment for you at Elite MMA? One of the toughest days of my life happened this year (2009). I found out a good friend of mine had committed suicide.

The day before the funeral I trained for 1 hour in the morning, and 2 hours at night. The training at night was awesome; I was able to forget about the death of a friend.

It gave me peace and the enjoyment of being around some of my closest friends.

In your own words why do you enjoy Elite MMA? Elite has given me a chance to have fun, train, and build some lasting relationships with people.

Do you have any martial arts accomplishments that you are proud of and why? To continue training on a regular basis and not give up.

Are there any professional accomplishments that you are proud of and why? Getting a chance to help people achieve their goals, whether it is to lose 50 pounds, or make an effect in their life that helps them grow.

Any sports/activities that you participated in that you are proud of? Getting involved with running in 2002, after 25 years of not working out.

What hobbies do you enjoy and why? Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu has empowered me to step outside my comfort zone and try new things.

Any memorable family moments that you would like to share? When I was in the fifth grade, there was a contest to sell candy bars. I remember my dad taking me all over Houston to sell them. One thing my dad stressed was, he was not going to sell them for me. It was something I had to do on my own. In the end I sold 742 candy bars.

If you could walk us through a day or week in your life what would it consist of? Everyday is something new. In one day I have the chance to help somebody change their life and be a positive influence in people’s lives.
