What is your educational background?

I am currently a senior in high school at Kingwood High School.

Do you have a competitive history in martial arts ?

Yes, I have a very competitive history as more than seventy-five percent of my medals are gold.  I Am the N.A.G.A 2014-2015 champion for my division.

What do you see is the main benefit the average individual can receive from martial arts?

To me it is building self confidence and discipline while learning a skill set for self defense.

Where do you hope martial arts will take you later in your life?

My major goal is to get my black belt under Jordan Rivas and then pass my knowledge of martial arts to others.

What is your name and age?
Lindsey Hinojosa 32

When did you join Elite MMA?
My son joined in 2010 for jui-jitsu, my daughter joined in 2013, and I joined kickboxing in the fall of 2013.

Why did you decide to start taking martial arts?
I enrolled my son then my daughter with Elite and realized what a great establishment it was. When they started offering kickboxing I was already here, so I thought why not try it.  It's a great opportunity to workout in a fun environment.

In the past what had caused you not to take martial arts?
My kids. I was always busy with them taking them places, doing homework, etc.  At Elite, we have the opportunity to all train together and in the same time frame.  It makes it much easier and convenient for a busy family.

Is this your first time taking martial arts and what classes do you take?
Yes this is my first time to take any kind of martial arts, and I currently do cardio kickboxing.

If you had any concerns about joining Elite MMA, what helped you with your decision?
I was a bit nervous when I decided to try the class.  The instructors had been asking me for awhile to give it a try, but I just kept putting it off.  The instructors and the other people in the class really made me feel at home and so it started to be a regular part of my schedule.

Since you have been a part of Elite, please share what you have been able to accomplish?
I am in the best shape I have ever been in.  I feel healthy and energized everyday. I feel it is related to my level of exercise.  My husband joined kickboxing shortly after I did and its awesome to be able to train together.  We are setting a great example for our kids that you need to be fit and take care of your body. We have made friendships that I know will last a lifetime.  We are actually about to go on vacation with a family that we wouldn't have met if it weren't for Elite.

Anything else you want to share with someone who is looking to get involved with martial arts or looking to change their current situation?
I would say go for it! Everyone at Elite is friendly and extremely welcoming.  There isn't one person that wants to see you fail, and everyone is willing to help from the staff to the students.  Robert and Julian do a fantastic job with the kids in Ju-jitsu and that carries over to kickboxing. They really care about everyone that walks through the door.  There is a definite sense of family here. Quit putting it off and give it a try. You'll be glad you did.

I started training at Elite on April 14, 2015

Why did you decide to start taking martial arts?

I decided taking martial arts because I was trying to get in shape and learn new skills.

In the past what had caused you not to take martial arts?

The reason I didn't take martial arts before was because I had a motorcycle accident and I needed to recover from it.

Is this your first time taking martial arts and what classes do you take?

I did boxing when I was in high school, now in Elite MMA I do jiu-jitsu &kickboxing.

If you had any concerns about joining Elite MMA, what helped you with your decision?

My main concern about joining Elite MMA was to be safe, but as soon as I walk in the gym I realize that's the first thing they talk about , taking care of your partners and communicating with them.

Since you have been part of Elite, please share what you have been able to accomplish?

At the beginning of the year I decided to lose weight and get in shape. I was 217 pounds at the time and I decided if I could be at 200 pounds in June I could have achieve my goal.  I’m glad to say that thanks to Elite MMA’s support and my hard work I was able to lose 42 pounds. I’m at 175 pounds now and I feel better than ever.

Anything else you want to share with someone who is looking to get involved with martial arts or looking to change their current lifestyle?

What I would say to someone who is interested in doing martial arts is that it’s a great experience, not only because the workout, but the skill you will learn and the confidence you will build, you will get stronger physical and mentally as well.
